“I was nervous in the first set, but had a good second where I was broken only once (as against thrice in the first) and matched him pretty well.“It was a great experience as you get to know about playing guys at that level. It is not difficult to get there and am going in the right direction. A few years from now, I will be there.
“I knew I had to raise the level of my game and it was a good experience,” said the 19-year old Bhambri, ranked 345, at the post-match media conference.
On how his career was developing, Bhambri, the former junior World No.1, reiterated that he needed to improve his physical fitness and consistency to get to the top and was working on this aspect.
“I think, I am much better now than I was last year and have been improving. But I need to get better on my physicals and more consistent in playing that many balls and matches. I wish I had the legs to last three-four hours on court,” said Bhambri.
